CALGARY - Rick Nashs bounce-back season continued Tuesday night, along with the New York Rangers winning streak.Nash scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season to lead the New York Rangers to a 5-2 victory over the Calgary Flames for their fourth-straight win.Nash is riding a career-best 11-game point streak (eight goals, six assists) that also ties him with Pittsburghs Evgeni Malkin for the longest point streak in the NHL this season. The Rangers are 8-3-0 during that streak to climb back into a playoff position in the Eastern Conference. They currently sit third in the Metropolitan Division. We need him to play the way he (Nash) is, said Rangers coach Alain Vigneault. Were no different than any other team in the league. You need your top players to be your top performers and thats what Rick is doing for us right now.Twenty goals in 29 games is a torrid start for Nash, who had just 26 goals in 65 games a year ago.Rick Nash is an elite hockey player. He was playing the same way last year. Unfortunately, he wasnt able to find the back of the net (as much) but this year hes been our best player, said linemate Derek Stephan, who had a goal and an assist.Nash opened the scoring at 11:22 of the first period on an unassisted goal. After a hard Calgary dump-in rimmed all the way around the end boards and out of the zone, Nash picked up the puck and moved in alone, beating Karri Ramo on a backhand-to-forehand move.Three minutes into the second period and while killing a penalty, Nash made it 3-0 when he was set up by Stepan on a two-on-one.The biggest thing is Stepans making great plays and Im getting lucky with pucks going around the boards. Its one of those things you dont want to think about too much when theyre going right, said Nash, who is tied for second in the NHL with three short-handed goals. He trails only Los Angeless Tyler Toffoli, who has four.Chris Kreider and Carl Hagelin also scored for New York (15-10-4). The Rangers won all three games in their swing through Western Canada.Jiri Hudler and Curtis Glencross — with just 1:15 left in the game — scored for Calgary (17-14-2). After a terrific start to the season, the Flames have lost six-straight games in regulation for the first time since Jan. 13-25, 2010.Its so easy when youre winning to go out there and make things happen when things are bouncing your way, said Flames centre Matt Stajan. The real test is when nothings going your way and youre in a funk like we are and this is where we have to step up.The losing streak coincided with the return of three key forwards from injured reserve, who had missed six weeks each. Stajan returned in the first game of the losing streak, while Mason Raymond and Joe Colborne returned shortly after. It hasnt been the easiest of weeks for us, said Stajan. Weve gone from being at the top of the mountain to being under water. We have to find a way here.A key sequence in the game came in the final minute of the first period with the Rangers up 1-0 and on the power play.Lance Bouma on a rare four-on-two rush and Josh Jooris on a dangerous two-on-one were both stopped by New York goalie Henrik Lundqvist. With time running out in the period, Mats Zucarello raced the puck up the ice and fired a long slapshot that Ramo handled easily. But with the puck lying at his feet, Ramo was expecting Kris Russell to clear it away and instead the Flames defenceman shoved it back towards Ramo and before the Flames goalie could cover it, Kreider stuck his stick in and knocked the puck into the net.Karri has to freeze it, Hartley said. He had the puck in front of him and the referee made the right call. That puck was loose so they came in and they whacked it in.The stunning goal at 19:52 resulted in a frustrated Ramo gesturing with his trapper in the direction of Russell. At that time, its probably one of our best penalty kills of the season. We generated three great scoring chances, they didnt get a sniff. They get that gift and that hurt us because right now, were fragile, said Hartley. After Stepan made it 4-0 at 11:15 of the second on a wrap-around, Hartley pulled Ramo, who had faced 13 shots. It was the second consecutive tough start for the 28-year-old, who falls to 8-5-1 this season. In his previous start, he gave up four goals on 19 shots in Buffalo.Lundqvist finished with 29 saves to improve to 13-7-3. Hes given up a total of only two goals in his last three starts.Notes: Derick Brassard (mumps) missed his second-straight game for New York... Also not dressed was John Moore. St. Louis scored two goals and added an assist after being honoured before the game, and the Tampa Bay Lightning stopped a four-game losing streak by beating the New York Rangers 5-0 on Monday night. "For us to pull out the game the way we did, and for him to contribute the way he did, a little storybook in there," Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said. St. Louis received a silver stick and other gifts during a ceremony for playing in his 1,000th NHL game last Tuesday at Los Angeles. He was the 286th to reach the milestone. "Its pretty emotional," St. Louis said. "The whole presentation. See my kids, my wife, my parents. When they started the (tribute) video, I couldnt watch. I kind of lost it. "It was a special night, and to be able to win the game and contribute. Ill remember tonight for sure." Ben Bishop had 37 saves and improved to 14-3-1 for the Lightning, who returned home after an 0-3-1 trip. Nikita Kucherov scored on the first shift of his first NHL game, and Teddy Purcell added a pair of goals to complete the scoring. The Rangers had their six-game, road-winning streak snapped. It was one short of matching the team record. New York won seven straight road games in a row in 1935 and 1978. "We turned the puck over a couple of times in the neutral zone and they made us pay," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "We were unable to make them pay, especially in the first period when we had quality chances." Kucherov, recalled from Syracuse of the AHL on Sunday, put the Lightning up 1-0 from the left circle at 2:12 on his first NHL shot. St. Louis, who had just one goal in his previous 12 games, skated in from the right wing boards and lifted an in-close shot over goalie Henrik Lundqvist to make it 2-0 just 58 seconds later. While celebrating the goal, St..dddddddddddd. Louis stumbled to the ice. "I took a nice fall," he said. "But I didnt really care. I was so excited to score." St. Louis extended the lead to 3-0 with a breakaway goal at 3:12 of the second. The captain moved past Tampa Bay assistant coach Steve Thomas (933) into 92nd place on the NHL career points list with 936. "Guys like that rise to the occasion, and sure enough, he goes out there and scores two goals after that ceremony." Bishop said. Purcell gave the Lightning a 4-0 lead with 3:08 left in the second. He also scored late in the third, with St. Louis getting an assist. Bishop stopped 17 shots during the first, including a low left circle drive by Chris Kreider in the opening minute, and made a post-to-post glove save on Anton Stralman late in the period. He has won all four games he has played against the Rangers, including two shutouts. Cam Talbot replaced Lundqvist, who gave up four goals on 22 shots, to start the third, but Talbots long shutout streak of 165 minutes, 27 seconds was broken. Talbot had posted shutouts in his previous two starts. "I wasnt able to come up with the saves," Lundqvist said. New York is 1-11 when allowing the first goal. Both Rick Nash and Brad Richards finished the game minus-3. NOTES: Tampa Bay star Steven Stamkos is walking without crutches or a boot two weeks after breaking his right leg, which required surgery.
